Obituary

Joseph H. Evans,95,of Charleroi,died Monday,Jan. 13,1992,in Haven Crest Inc.,Carroll Township. Born June 21,1896,in Fayette City,he was the son of the late Joseph and Susan Brown Evans.  Mr. Evans was Protestant by faith. A retired coal miner,he had been employed at Cresent Mine in Twilight Borough and was a member of the United Mine Workers of America.In addition to his parents,he was preceded in death by his wife,Fannie L. Evans;two sons,Joseph Evans Jr.and Charles Evans;one daughter,Frances Yakich;one grandson,Robert Lambert;five brothers, Nathan,Russell,George,Alden and Robert Evans;and one sister, Hazel Jenkins. Surviving are one son, William P.Evans of Charleroi R.D.1;two daughters,Mrs. Robert (June) Lambert of Charleroi and Mrs. Joseph (Opal) Wargo of Charleroi R.D.1;12 grandchildren;31 great-grandchildren;11 great-great-grandchildren;and one sister, Olive Payton of Charleroi. Friends will be received Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.in the Carl J. Spallino Funeral Home,819 Fallowfield Ave.,Charleroi,where services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Paul R. Milliken,pastor of First United Methodist Church,Charleroi,officiating.  Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.  Arrangements are being handled by the Carl J. Spallino Funeral Home.
