Obituary

Joseph Gnora,64,of 224 Second St.,Belle Vernon,died Sunday,July 10,1988,at 6:05 a.m.in Mon Valley Hospital,Carroll Township. Mr.Gnora was born March 18,1924,in Monessen,a son of the late Michael and Mary Hudak Gnora. On Nov.30,1981,he retired from employment in the Sinter Plant of the Monessen Works of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corporation. Mr.Gnora had been a resident of Belle Vernon the past 25 years. He was a U.S.Army veteran of World War II. Mr.Gnora was a member of Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church,Belle Vernon,and the Disabled American Veterans. In addition to his parents,he was also preceded in death by four brothers,John,George,Paul and Nick Gnora,and by one sister,Anna Kochman. Surviving are his wife,Margaret Tyger Gnora,one daughter,Mrs.Brian (Tammy) Billie,of Belle Vernon,two brothers,Michael Gnora of Monessen and Andrew Gnora of Belle Vernon,one sister,Mrs.Louis (Mary) Swaney,of Monessen,and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.in the Stephen D.Yoney Jr.Funeral Home,First Street and Schoonmaker Avenue,Monessen. A Parastas Service will beheld Tuesday at 8 p.m.in the funeral home. A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday (July 13) at 10 a.m.in Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church,Mary Street,Belle Vernon,with the Very Rev.John Kluchko,pastor,as celebrant. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Stephen D.Yoney Jr.Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
