Joseph Evangelist, 75,of Monessen, died Saturday,Jan. 20,2001,in Havencrest Nursing Home,following a lengthy illness. He was born July 5,1925,in Monessen,a son of the late Albert and Grace (Marto) Evangelist. He was a lifelong resident of Monessen and a graduate of Monessen High School. He retired from the Monessen Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp.,having worked in the coke plant. He is survived by a brother and sister-in-law,Daniel and Betty Evangelist of Belle Vernon; a sister-in-law,Theresa Evangelist of Carrick and by several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents,he was preceded in death by two brothers,Anthony Evangelist, his twin,and Samuel Evangelist. Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home,441 Reed Ave.,Monessen. Services will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home,with the Rev. Dr. Frank DePolo officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemtery.
