Obituary

Joseph DeFrancesco, 83, of Charleroi, died Tuesday, July 2, 2002, in Jefferson Hospital. He was born Oct. 27, 1918, in Woodvale, Pa., a son of the late Giuseppi and Maria Mulla DeFrancesco. He was a member of Mary, Mother of the Church Parish of Charleroi, a watchmaker in Charleroi since 1937, and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He served as as a technical sergeant. Surviving are his wife, Julia Mlechick DeFrancesco, two sons, Joseph DeFrancesco of Scotch Plains, N.J., and Bernard DeFrancesco of San Jose, Calif., two brothers, Leonard DeFrancesco of Charleroi and Michael DeFrancesco of Fayette City, one sister, Rose Shannon of Smithfield, and two grandchildren, Anthony and Melina DeFrancesco of San Jose, Calif. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Angelo and Samuel DeFrancesco. There will be no visitation, and services and interment will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are being handled by the CARL J. SPALLINO FUNERAL HOME, Charleroi. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, July 6, at 10 a.m. in Mary, Mother of the Church, Charleroi, for Joseph DeFrancesco, 83, of Charleroi, who died Tuesday, July 2, 2002, in Jefferson Hospital. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
