Joseph DeFrancesco; 83; of Charleroi; died Tuesday; July 2; 2002; in Jefferson Hospital. He was born Oct. 27; 1918; in Woodvale; Pa.; a son of the late Giuseppi and Maria Mulla DeFrancesco. He was a member of Mary; Mother of the Church Parish of Charleroi; a watchmaker in Charleroi since 1937; and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He served as as a technical sergeant. Surviving are his wife; Julia Mlechick DeFrancesco; two sons; Joseph DeFrancesco of Scotch Plains; N.J.; and Bernard DeFrancesco of San Jose; Calif.; two brothers; Leonard DeFrancesco of Charleroi and Michael DeFrancesco of Fayette City; one sister; Rose Shannon of Smithfield; and two grandchildren; Anthony and Melina DeFrancesco of San Jose; Calif. In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by two brothers; Angelo and Samuel DeFrancesco. There will be no visitation; and services and interment will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are being handled by the CARL J. SPALLINO FUNERAL HOME; Charleroi.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday; July 6; at 10 a.m. in Mary; Mother of the Church; Charleroi; for Joseph DeFrancesco; 83; of Charleroi; who died Tuesday; July 2; 2002; in Jefferson Hospital. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
