Obituary

Joseph (Cowboy) Kurtak,of 51 Ohio St.,Pricedale,was dead on arrival Friday,September 19,1969,at 9:30 a.m.at the Charleroi-Monessen Hospital,after having suffered an apparent heart attack. He lived in Monessen 47 years,and two years ago went to Pricedale to live with a sister,Mrs.Joseph Shirley. He was employed in the open hearth pipe shop,Monessen Plant,Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. He was a member of St.John the Divine R.O.Church,Monessen,the PNA Club,Monessen,and the Hungarian Club of Pricedale. He was preceded in death by a sister,Mrs.Mary Melnick in 1960,his father,Andrew Kurtak Sr.,in 1962,a brother,Andrew Jr.,in 1964,and another brother,Michael,in 1967. Survivors are his mother,Mrs.Mary Kurtak of Pricedale,two sisters,Mrs.Joseph (Elizabeth) Shirley of Pricedale,and Mrs.Adam (Ann) Klawcho,also of Pricedale. Friends will be received at the John L.Kravats Funeral Home,Monessen. Parastas service will be held there Saturday and Sunday at 7 p.m. Blessing service there Monday,Sept.22,at 8:30 a.m.,will be followed by additional rites at 9 a.m.,in St.John the Divine R.O.Church,Monessen,with the Rev.John Govrusik in charge. Interment,Belle Vernon Cemetery. John L. Kravets of Monessen is the funeral director.
