Joseph Coates,83,of Canonsburg,formerly of Fayette City,died Saturday,Sept.17,1994,in Charles House,Canonsburg. Born April 4,1911,in Webster,he was a son of the late George and Catherine Pochlopek Coates. Catholic by faith,Mr. Coates was a retired auto mechanic and car salesman. He was a veteran of World War ll,serving with the U.S. Army in Europe. Survivors inclue four brothers, Stanley Coates of Belle Venron and Michael,Peter and Thomas Coates,all of Fayette City R.D.;and four sisters,Mary Kaufman of Largo,Fla.,and Mrs. Charles (Rose) Homanics, Mrs. Michael (Helen) Yetsconish and Blanche Coates,all of Fayette City R.D. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Frank Coates and one sister, Pauline Korch. Friends will be received Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Howard W. McCrory Funeral Home,Fayette City,and Tuesday until 10 a.m.,when funeral Liturgy will be held in the funeral home. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Howard W. McCrory Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
