Obituary

Joseph Bennett of Belle Vernon about 25 years of age,was thrown from an automobile truck on which he was riding about 11 o'clock Monday,September 1,1919,near Searights on the National Pike and so badly injured that he died about a half hour later.  Mr.Bennett was in a party which was going to the races at Uniontown.  They were travelling in a contruction truck,Mr.Bennett riding on top of the cab.  Near Searights an auto ran into the truck and Mr.Bennett was thrown from his position.  He is survived by his wife and one child.  The body was brought to the Bennett home in Belle Vernon Monday evening,from where the funeral will take place.  Mrs. Bennett was in the party and witnessed the accident.  About a year ago,Mr.Bennett while at work on construction at the Pittsburgh Steel company fell a distance of about 50 feet,but his fall was broken by a wire and he was not injured.  The funeral was held Thursday afternoon from his home in Belle Vernon.  Many people attended and paid their last respects to the young man whose unexpected death has caused much grief in the community.  The young man was the son-in-law of Mr.Singley,of Sschoonmaker and Oneida street,Monessen.  He was well known in this city.
