Joseph Bednar Sr.;87;of Gillespie;Fayette City R.D.1;died Tuesday;Dec.12;1967;at 5:15 a.m.at his home after a lengthy illness. A retired coal miner he was a member of Holy Ghost Greek Catholic Church;Charleroi. Mr.Bednar was born in Czechoslovkia on March 19;1880;the son of the late Joseph and Sophia Bednar. Surviving are his widow;Mary Matveg Bednar;two sons;Joseph Jr.of Gillespie and George at home;four daughters;Mrs.Joseph (Anna) Popcrocky of Bedford;Ohio;Mrs.Peter (Kathryn) Vesely and Mrs.Joseph (Helen) Bolchak;both of Gillespie;Mrs.John (Margaret) Buckley of Bethesda;Md.;fifteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Howard W.McCrory Funeral Home;Fayette City;after 2 p.m.Dec.13. Prayers there Saturday;Dec.16;at 9:30 a.m.followed by Solemn Divine Liturgy in Holy Ghost Greek Catholic Church;Charleroi;at 10 a.m. The Rev.Andrew Chura;pastor;will officiate.
