Obituary

Joseph Bartus,77,of 1006 Brown street,Belle Vernon,died at his home,Thursday,October 2,1958,at 9:30 a.m. He was born in Hungary,May 27,1881,and had been a resident of Belle Vernon for forty years. He was a member of St.Sebastian Church,and was a retired coal miner,having been last employed at the Victoria mine in Pricedale. On October 9 of this year,he and his wife would have celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary. He is survived by his wife,Mary Bartus,three sons,Albert at home,Steve of Donora,and John of Belle Vernon,one daughter,Mrs.James (Mary) Nagy,Belle Vernon,three brothers,Louis in Europe,William of Beaver Falls,Andrew of Egg Harbor,New Jersey,one sister,Mrs.Julia Stefan,three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Friends will be recieved at the Ferguson Funeral Home. Brief prayer there on Monday,October 6,1958,will be followed by Requiem High Mass at 10:30 a.m.in St.Sebastian Church,with Rev.Henry Hanse in charge. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
