Joseph A.Hoffman;54;of 62 Johnston St.;Belle Vernon;died at 1:59 a.m.Wednesday;April 2;1980;in the Veterans Hospital;Pittsburgh. He was born in Belle Vernon on Aug.2;1925. A veteran of World War II;he was a member of the Belle Vernon American Legion and was also a member and steward of the East Belle Vernon Athletic Association. He was also a member of St.Sebastian R.C.Church of Belle Vernon. Preceding him in death was a brother;Edward;on May 15;1966. Surviving are his parents;Joseph and Mary Hoffman;with whom he made his home;two brothers;James V.of Belle Vernon and Paul of Redstone Arsenal;Ala.;two sisters;Mrs.Albert (Mary Patricia) Zidek of Coal Center and Mrs.Albert (Betty Ann) Tonkavitch of Rostraver Twp. Friends are being received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.Thursday at the Shelby D.Ferguson Funeral Home;700 Broad Ave.;Belle Vernon. A Blessing service will be held at the funeral home Friday at 9:30 a.m.followed by a Blessing service at 10 a.m.in St.Sebastian Church. Burial will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Because of Holy Week;a Mass of Christian Burial for Mr.Hoffman’s intentions will be observed at St.Sebastian Church on Monday at 10 a.m.
