Obituary

Joseph A.Hoffman,54,of 62 Johnston St.,Belle Vernon,died at 1:59 a.m.Wednesday,April 2,1980,in the Veterans Hospital,Pittsburgh. He was born in Belle Vernon on Aug.2,1925. A veteran of World War II,he was a member of the Belle Vernon American Legion and was also a member and steward of the East Belle Vernon Athletic Association. He was also a member of St.Sebastian R.C.Church of Belle Vernon. Preceding him in death was a brother,Edward,on May 15,1966. Surviving are his parents,Joseph and Mary Hoffman,with whom he made his home,two brothers,James V.of Belle Vernon and Paul of Redstone Arsenal,Ala.,two sisters,Mrs.Albert (Mary Patricia) Zidek of Coal Center and Mrs.Albert (Betty Ann) Tonkavitch of Rostraver Twp. Friends are being received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.Thursday at the Shelby D.Ferguson Funeral Home,700 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon. A Blessing service will be held at the funeral home Friday at 9:30 a.m.followed by a Blessing service at 10 a.m.in St.Sebastian Church. Burial will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Because of Holy Week,a Mass of Christian Burial for Mr.Hoffman's intentions will be observed at St.Sebastian Church on Monday at 10 a.m.
