Obituary

While working on a customer in his chair,Joseph A.Johnson,65,well known Monessen barber,dropped dead Thursday,April 10 at 4:30 p.m. Johnson was able to pitch forward as he went about his tonsorial duties and slumped to the floor. He was pronounced dead of a heart attack by the doctor who was called. Johnson,while long engaged in the barber business in Monessen,lived however at 513 Bluff street,Belle Vernon. He had resided there for 22 years and was as well known in Belle Vernon as Monessen. He was a member of the Episcopal church of Kittanning. His wife Etta,five daughters and one son survive. They are Mrs. Solomon Sherild of Belle Vernon.Mrs.Wayne Osborne,Belle Vernon,Edith,Barbara and Dorothy at home. One son,Arthur,lives in Pittsburgh. Three grandchildren also survive. Friends are being received at the late home in Belle Vernon where funeral services will be held Monday afternoon,April 14,at 2 o'clock. Interment will be in Belle Vernon cemetery. Chas.L.Melenyzer is the funeral director.
