Services were held yesterday (Monday) for Mr. Joseph Conner, 78, of Apartment 2, Marion Villa, who died Friday, Aug. 31, at 4:10 p.m. in the South Hills Convalescent Center following a lengthy illness. He was born in Brownsville on May 12, 1901, son of the late Albert and Margaret Mae Jones Conner. Mr. Conner was a retired coal miner. He was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes Oliphant Conner, in 1968. Surviving are three sons, Thomas of Rockville, Md.,Joseph of Needham, Mass, and Robert of Rollo, Missouri; two daughters, Mrs. Theodore (Evelyn) Organ of Monessen and Mrs. Ross (Anna Mae) Basile of Belle Vernon; one brother, Earl of Youngstown, Ohio; three sisters,Mrs. Beatrice Pierce of Allenport,Lillian Captain of Fayette City and Mrs. Myrtle Boris of Smithton. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Services were held at 11 a.m. Monday,September 3,1979 in the Howard W. McCrory Funeral Home,Fayette City,with the Rev. Charles Colas,Belle Vernon Baptist Church,officiting. Burial was in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
