Obituary

John Emlyn (Jack) Owen, 70, 625 Broad avenue, Belle Vernon,died Tuesday morning, July 3,1956,at 12:25 a.m. at his late home. Mr. Owen had been superintendent of steam and combustion at the Pittsburgh Steel Co.,for 31 years. He was born in Bryn Mawr S. Wales, England, studied journalism at Oxford University,and was graduated as a mechanical engineer from the University of Wales.  He served with distinction in World War I as a member of the Royal Engineers of England. Mr. Owen was a member of the Washington Avenue Presbyterian Church in Charleroi,the Bessemer Alabamar Lodge 458,SME,and the Engineers Society of Western Pennsylvania and the Monessen Chamber of Commerce. He is survived by his wife,Mrs. Ruby Owen,a sister, Mrs. S.S. Davies of Beaufort, England,and a nephew,John Kinsey of Belle Vernon. Friends will be receive at the Melenyzer-Ferguson Funeral Home after 7 p.m. July 3.  Services wiil be held Friday, July 6, at 2 p.m.,wih Rev. William H. Shatz of the Belle Vernon Methodist Church officaiting.  Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.  Charles L. Melennyzer and Shelby Ferguson,funeral directors.  Funeral home visiting hours are from 1 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 10 p.m.
