A veteran of World War I;he was a member of the First Presbyterian Church;Anderson-Cousins Post 1394;VFW;Disabled American Veterans;all of Pittsburgh;and F&AM Lodge;New Castle. Surviving are one sister;Mrs.William T.(Pearl) Muir of Belle Vernon and several nieces and nephews.
