Obituary

John Toth,Sr.,65,of Fayette City,R.D.1,formerly of Belle Vernon,died Wednesday,Sept.7,1960 at 3:30 p.m. in Charleroi-Monessen hospital. Mr.Toth was born in Marion City,Ohio,Jan.29,1895,and moved to Arnold City when a boy. He worked in the Arnold City coal mine until 1926,when he accepted employment at the Monessen plant of the Pittsburgh Steel Co. Retiring from this employment in 1942,he became associated with his sons,and established the Toth Market in Belle Vernon. Until his illness he and his sons also operated two other markets,one in Lynnwood,the third in Speers. He is survived by his widow,Cora Smith Toth,six sons,John W.,Speers,Thomas E. and Joseph C.,Lynnwood,Melvin J.,Fayette City,R.D.,Louis R.,Belle Vernon,and Clifford H.,Lynnwood,two daughters,Mrs.Wilbur (Dorothy) Pierce,Berberton,Ohio,Mrs.Leo (Margaret) Forsini,Finleyville,five brothers,William and Joseph of Brownsville,Steve,Fairhope,Pete,Belle Vernon,and Louis of Monessen,two sisters,Mrs.Margaret Toza,Belle Vernon R.D.2 and Mrs.Elizabeth Marinos,Lynnwood,and eighteen grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Ferguson Funeral Home,700 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held there Saturday,Sept.10,1960 at 2 p.m. in charge of Dr.S.Arthur Talman. Interment in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Shelby D.Ferguson is funeral director.
