Obituary

John Thomas "Scotty" Watson of 1331 Nash Ave., Monessen,died Friday Oct. 21,1983 in the Mon Valley Hospital.  He was 73. Mr. Watson was born April 5,1910,in Stanley County of Durham,England,a son of the late Frank Edward and Ivy Cousins Watson. He came to the United states in 1929 and began working at Page Steel and Wire, Monessen,where he was employed until his retirement in 1972. Mr. Watson was very active in Union Local 1391,for which he served as grievance committee chairman,vice president and president over an 18 year period. He was a veteran of World War II,having served in India with the Signal Corps.  He was also commissioned as second lieutenant in the Pennsylvania Home Guard. Mr. Watson was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Monessen. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father,Thomas Chisholm. Survivors include his wife,Viva Eisley Watson; a daughter and son-in-law,Claudia and Thomas Johnston of Columbus,Ohio;one granddaughter,Karen Johnston of Columbus,Ohio;three sisters,Jenny Evans and Caroline Horan,both of Monessen,and Rudy Boyer of Fairless Hills; two brothers, Harry Chisholm of Fairless Hills and Frank Watson of Monessen;and several nieces and nephews,including Ralph and Marilynne Stone of North Charleroi. Friends will be received Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Rhome Funeral Home,Inc.,1209 Grand Blvd.,Monessen,where services will be held Monday,Oct. 24,at 1 p.m.,with the Rev. S. Kenneth Johnson,pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Monessen,offficiating.  Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.  The Rhome Funeral Home,Inc.is in charge of arrangements.
