Obituary
John Askew,aged 77 years,of Fairhope,died Sunday,Oct. 31,1954,at 10:50 p.m. in Charleroi-Monessen Hosptial. He was a member of the Marion Presbyterian Church,Fairhope. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Cecelia Askew;a daughter,Mrs. Otis J.Momeyer,of Elizabeth,R.D.#2;two step-sons,Thomas P. Hogan,of Charleroi and Lawrence Hogan,of Detroit,Mich,;a step-daughter,Mrs. Guy Winn,of Fairhope;a brother,Saul Chambers,of Avella and two sisters,Mrs. Paul Leithold,of Belle Vernon,and Mrs. Paul Brindle,of Castle Shannon. Fourteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive. Friends are being received at the Melenyzer-Ferguson Funeral Home,Broad avenue,Belle Vernon,where visiting hours will be from 1 to 5 and 7 to 10 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday,Nov. 3,at 2 p.m. from the funeral home. Rev. George Guest,pastor of the Marion Presbyterian Church will officiate. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Charles L. Melenyzer and Shelby D. Ferguson,funeral directors.
