Obituary

John "Sarge" Strychalski, 76, of Fairhope, Belle Vernon, died Tuesday, Jan. 3, 1995, in the Country Care Manor, Fayette City R.D. 2, after a lengthly illness. He was born in LaBelle, Jan. 2,1919, a son of the late Andrew and Helen Glazer Strychalski. Mr. Strychalski was a retired coal miner from the Mathies Coal Mine. He was a member of the UMWA. A veteran of World War II, he served with the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659 and the Fairhope Rod and Gun Club. Surviving are his wife, Susan Buchton Strychalski,whom he married on Feb.11,1939,a son and daughter-in-law, Bernard and Debbie Strychalski of Fairhope, two daughters and sons-in-law, Evelyn and Eugene Nagy of Donora and Suzanne and John Antol of Fairhope, nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, three brothers, Walter and Stanley Strychalski of Fairhope and Joseph of Trafford, four sisters, Mary Belczyk of Arnold City, Ann Glister of North Versailles and Nellie Gombo and Florence Rovny, both of Fairhope, and a daughter-in-law, Janet Miller Strychalski of Augusta, Ga. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son,Andrew Strychalski in 1987,a brother,Edward Strychalski,and a sister,Mildred Spazak. Friends will be received in the Howard W. McCrory Funeral Home, Fayette City, Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.and on Thursday until 11 a.m., the hour of services, with the Rev. Felix Pyzowski of St. Joseph Polish National Catholic Church of Fairhope officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery, Belle Vernon. The Howard W. McCrory Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
