Obituary

John Robert Onofrey of 1003 Brown St.,Belle Vernon,died Tuesday,Jan. 27,1981,at 7:15 p.m. in Mon Valley Hospital.  He was 62. Mr. Onofrey was born Nov. 3,1918,in Monessen and resided in the Belle Vernon area most of his life. He was preceded in death by his father, John Onofrey;his mother, Mary Leonard Onofrey Fedorchik;his step-father,Joseph Fedorchik and a brother, Joseph Fedorchik.  Mr. Onofrey was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church in Belle Venron.  He had retired in 1973 from the finishing side of the Monessen Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp.  Mr. Onofrey was also a member of the Polish Club of Monessen. Survivors include his widow, Helen Corbish Onofrey;four daughters, Mrs. Joseph (Lois) Olexa of North Charleroi,Mrs. Richard (Nancy) Gearing of Upper Saint Clair,Mrs. Matthew (Lynn) Sabol of Greensburg and Mrs. John (Mary Lou) Dzurinko of Belle Vernon;three brothers, Joseph Sabol,Vincent Fedorchik and Florian Fedorchik,all of Monessen;two sisters, Mrs. Thomas (Mary) Martinis of Monessen and Mrs. George (Ann) Soltis of Monongahela and six grandchildren.  Friends will be received in the Leonard J. Parzynski Funeral home,626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon,Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.  Prayer Services will be held Friday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home,followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church,Belle Venron,at 10 a.m.  Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.  Parzynski Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
