John Robert Kalakewich;45;of 225 Water St.;Belle Vernon;died sudddenly Saturday;April 25;1992;in Mon Valley Hospital;Carroll Township. Mr.Kalakewich was born Sept.26;1946;in North Charleroi;a son of the late John and Mary Catherine Sullenberger Kalakewich. He had been employed as a lathe operator at the former Wheeling-Pittsburgh Rail Mill in Monessen. Mr.Kalakewich was a U.S.Navy veteran of the Vietnam Conflict. He was a member of the Italia Unita Club;Charleroi. Surviving are his wife;Mary Lou Basits Kalakewich;one daughter;Marmie Simon;of Dunlevy;two stepsons;David Brewer of Belle Vernon and Scott Brewer at home;four step-daughters;Pamela Brewer of Belle Vernon;Debra LaRew of Monessen;Mrs.Timothy (Nancy) Matsick of Belle Vernon;and Marcy Simon of Dunlevy;three brothers;Paul Douglas Kalakewich of Belle Vernon;James Daryl Kalakewich of Monongahela and Ralph Frank Kalakewich of West Palm Beach;Fla.;two sisters;Mary Eileen Fauvie of West Palm Beach;Fla.;and Mrs.Dennis (Kathy Lynn) Sukel in Florida;and six grandchildren. There will be no public visitation. Interment services for family and friends will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday;April 30;in the Chapel of Belle Vernon Cemetery;with the Rev.Donald A.Bowers;pastor;First Christian Church;Belle Vernon;officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Leonard J.Parzynski Funeral Home;626 Broad Ave.;Belle Vernon;is in charge of arrangements.
