John R. Stimmell,71,of Rostraver Township,died Tuesday,June 5,2001,in Westmoreland Manor. Born July 24,1929,in Layton, he was the son of the late John J. and Irene Nutt Stimmell. He was a member of the Rehoboth Presbyterian Church,a member and past masterof Gummert Lodge 252 F&AM of Fayette City,Monessen Royal Arch Chapter No.290,Uniontown Lodge of Perfection and the Kean Commandery Knight Templar No. 80. A resident of Rostraver Township the past 43 years,he retired after 36 years of service with Bell Telephone Co. He was a U.S.Army veteran of the Korean War. Survivors include his wife, Patricia Strenske Stimmell,whith whom he would have celebrated 44 years of marriage on July 6,2001;one son, Robert and his wife Mary Ann Stimmell of eburg,Pa.,one daughter,Tamara Stimmell of Somerset;and one grandchild,Cassie Stimmell. He was preceded in death by a sister, Thelma Stiffy. Friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Ferguson Funeral Home,a Golden Rule Member Firm,700 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,where funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Richard Klein of the Rehoboth Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Masonic services by Gummert Lodge 252 F&AM Lodge will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
