John Perry;former Belle Vernon Borough mayor and police chief and long-time businessman;died Saturday;March 7;1981;at 1 a.m.at his home at 323 Water St.;Belle Vernon. He was 80. Mr.Perry was born Sept.10;1900;in Belle Vernon;a son of the late Salvatore and Angelina Perry. A lifelong resident of the Belle Vernon community;Mr.Perry had served as mayor and chief of police for Belle Vernon Borough and also was a former constable. He had planned on running for the office of mayor again in the upcoming primary election. Mr.Perry owned and operated the Ritz Theater in Belle Vernon for many years and also was the former owner of the Perry Hotel in Belle Vernon. He was a member of St.Sebastian R.C.Church;Belle Vernon;and the Loyal Order of Moose;Pittsburgh Lodge 46. Mr.Perry was preceded in death by his wife;Catherine Spadafore Perry;in 1973;and two brothers;Frank Perry of Michigan and James Perry of the state of California. Survivors include one son;Salvatore J.Perry of Valparaiso;Ind.;two step-sons;James Sidary of Kansas City;Kansas;and Joseph Sidary of Belle Vernon;five grandchildren and one great-grandson. Friends will be received in the Leonard J.Parzynski Funeral Home;626 Broad Ave.;Belle Vernon;from 7 to 9 p.m.Monday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.Tuesday. A Blessing service will be held in the funeral home Wednesday at 10 a.m.followed by interment in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Leonard J.Parzynski Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
