John P. Thorpe; 68; of Perryopolis; died Sunday; Jan. 23; 2005; in Mon Valley Hospital. A son of the late John and Margaret Usher Thorpe; he was born May 12; 1936. Formerly of Rostraver Township; he had resided in Perryopolis for the past 10 years. Mr. Thorpe had been a coal miner in West Virginia. Survivors include a sister-in-law; Alois Thorpe of West Newton; three brothers; Robert Thorpe of Anaheim; Calif.; Gene Thorpe of Grindstone and Ronald Thorpe; and three sisters; Pearl McCoy of York; Charlotte Santo of Roscoe and Donna Lessman of Charleroi. In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by two sisters; Hanna Jones and Edith Mowery; and two brothers; Stewart U. and Mickey Lee Thorpe. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME INC. and CREMATION SERVICE; (724-929-5300); a Gold Rule Member Firm; 700 Broad Ave.; Belle Vernon. Funeral services will be in the funeral home on Wednesday; Jan. 26; at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Richard C. Klein; pastor of Rehoboth Presbyterian Church; officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
