John P. Schmidt, 75, of Twilight Borough, died Friday, Dec. 3, 1993, in Jefferson Hospital, Jefferson Borough. Mr. Schmidt was born Nov. 7, 1918, in Belle Vernon, a son of the late John H. and Anna Schmidt. He was retired from the former Monessen plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corporation, where he was a supervisor, with the Southwestern Railroad. Mr- Schmidt was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 22 of Charleroi and also attended the Speers United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, Eloise Kimmel Schmidt; a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Joseph L. Hurley Sr. of Speers Hill; four grandchildren, Joseph L. Hurley Jr., Patrick Hurley, David John Nicholls and Bryon Nicholls; and a sister, Catherine Anderson in Mississippi. A daughter, Margorie Schmidt Nicholls; one brother, Henry Schmidt; and a sister, Alice Easton, are deceased. Friends will be received Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Schrock-Hogan Funeral Home Inc., 226 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, where services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Rex Wasser of Speers United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Schrock-Hogan Funeral Home Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
