Obituary

John P.Biggins Sr.of 306 Fell St.,Belle Vernon,died Wednesday,Nov.13,1985,at 7 a.m.at his home. A North Belle Vernon councilman,he was 71. Mr.Biggins was born July 20,1914,in Sharpsville,a son of the late Patrick E.and Frances Campbell Biggins. In addiiton to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife,Mary Ellen Bricher Biggins,Oct.28,1983,by two sisters and two brothers,Mary Elinor Biggins,Patricia Petrini,Dr.James A.Biggins and Edward Biggins. A resident of North Belle Vernon,he was a member of St.Sebastian Roman Catholic Church. Mr.Biggins was a member of Belle Vernon Knights of Columbus Council 3026. He retired in 1972 from Corning Glass Works,Charleroi,where he had been employed as a master mechanic. Mr.Biggins has served on North Belle Vernon Borough Council since 1978,serving as its president from Jan.4,1982 until June 30,1985. He had been active in the Boy Scouts movement for many years and was treasurer of St.Sebastian Boy Scout Troop 1543. Survivors include four sons,John P.Jr.of Belle Vernon,William E.of Lowell,Ohio,Michael C.of Fitchburg,Mass.,and Christopher at home,four daughters,Mrs.John A.(Frances) Gore of Fairfax,Va.,Mrs.Joseph V.(Catherine) Dutko of Bristol,Beatrice M.Biggins of New York City,N.Y.,and Mrs.Harry (Rosemary) Horner of Brownsville,two brothers,Francis L.Biggins of Sharon and Joseph V.Biggins of Fort Wayne,Ind.,one sister,Mrs.George (Elizabeth) Allen of Sharpsville,15 grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.in the Leonard J.Parzynski Funeral Home,626 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,where a prayer service will be held Saturday,Nov.16,at 9:30 a.m.,followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St.Sebastian R.C.Church,Belle Vernon. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Belle Vernon Knights of Columbus Council 3026 will hold services Friday at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home. The family suggests contributions be made to Community Ambulance Service or the American Heart Association in memory of Mr.Biggins. The Leonard J.Parzynski Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
