Obituary

John N. Jarvis, 84, of Forward Twp. died Tuesday, January 1, 2008 in Mt. Vernon Health Care Center. A son of the late Milton and Ethel Hunter Jarvis, he was born in Forward Twp. on June 30, 1923. John was a lifelong resident of Forward Twp., worked at the former Donora Works and retired from the former National Tube Works of U.S. Steel in Christy Park where he was a machinist. He also served four years in the Merchant Marines during World War II. Survivors include his wife, Alma Goettel Jarvis, whom he married in 1947, one daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Mark Frederick of Belle Vernon, two sons and one daughter-in-law, Thomas Jarvis and John N. and Rhonda Jarvis, all of Forward Twp., one sister, Lillian Kline of Pittsburgh, two brothers, Thomas Jarvis of Addison and Milton Jarvis of Forward Twp., seven grandchildren, Thomas Jarvis, Milton Thomas Jarvis, both of Charleroi, Billie Jo Jarvis of Pittsburgh, John Jarvis of Forward Twp., Ray Frederick of Belle Vernon, Pat Frederick of Monessen and Mike Frederick of Belle Vernon and four great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Vera Slowaitis, one brother, Kenneth Jarvis and one daughter-in-law, Margaret Jarvis. There will be no public visitation or services.
