Obituary

True to his promise that he would some day end it all John Kiefer,58,car inspector at the Pittsburgh & Lake Erie railroad yards at Monessen,hanged himself last night. His body was found suspended from a rope in the blacksmith shop at 6 a.m. He had been dead only a short time. Kiefer had been under medical care for a heart condition and had told his wife several times that he might end his life. Kiefer lived at 9 East Schoonmaker avenue. He had been a car inspector for 20 years and was a veteran of World War One. Surviving are his wife Mrs.Lavurn Worley Kiefer,the following sons and daughters, Ray,Rodney Lee and Larry J.and Olive Mae at home,Mrs.John Maudron,Mrs.Robert Lowe and Mrs.Robert Helon,Monessen,and the following sisters Mrs.Elizabeth Gates and Mrs.John DelBarre,Monessen,Mrs.Emma Kiefer,Webster,Mrs.Clyde Mosier,Uniontown. Five grandchildren also survive. Friends will be received at the Melenyzer Funeral Home,262 Donner avenue,Monessen. Services will be held there Thursday,July 3,1952,at 2 p.m.,in charge of Rev.LLoyd Erb. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Edwin Melenyzer is the funeral director.
