John M. Humphries,68,of 1215 Highalnd Ave.,Monessen,died Wednesday,Jan. 25,1961 at 4 p.m. at home after a brief illness. Mr. Humphries was born in Roxboro,N.C.,Sept. 3,1892,and came to Monessen in 1923. He was employed in the wire mill of the Monessen Plant of Pittsburgh Steel Co. until his retirement on May 30,1960. Mr. Humphries was a member of the Wayman A.M.E. Church, Monessen. Surviving are his widow,Alma;three daughters, Martha,at home,Mrs. Dorcas Glasscoe and Mrs. Naomi Towler,both of Washington,D.C.;three sons,John and James,at home and Samuel of Monessen;17 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Friends are being received at the Beverly Draper Funeral Home, Monessen. Funeral services will be held Saturday,Jan. 28 at 11 a.m. from the Wayman A.M.E. Church,Monessen with the Rev. H.L. Anderson officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Beverly C. Draper,funeral director.
