Obituary

J. Lee McVay of 133 Linnwood Ave.,Belle Vernon,died suddenly at 8:15 a.m. Sunday, Jan.18,1987,in Mon Valley Hospital, Carroll Twp.  He was 68.  Mr. McVay was born July 23,1918,in Monessen,a son of the late Charles B. and Bertha E. Kraft McVay. He retired in 1980 from employment with the Monessen Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. Mr. McVay was a member and elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Belle Vernon and the Veteran of Foreign Wars Post of Belle Vernon.  He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II,having served as a master sergeant in the European Theater of Operations. A former resident of Monessen,he had resided in Belle Vernon since 1948. He and his wife, Marie Souply McVay,who survives, had been married for 42 years. Also surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Glenn (Laurie) Means of Latrobe;one brother,Joseph McVay of Okmulgee, Okla.;two sisters, Mary McIlravey of Uniontown and Amelia Nightingale of St. Petersburg, Fla. and two grandchildren,Benjamin and Nicholas Means. Friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Shelby D. Ferguson Funeral Home,700 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon.  Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home,with the Rev. Charles LaPlaca,pastor,First Presbyterian Church,Belle Vernon,officiating.  Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery,Belle Vernon.  The Shelby D. Ferguson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
