Obituary

Eleven-year-old John Smoody,Jr.,of Arnold City,died last night, Thursday, October 29,1936 at 11:30 o'clock in Charleroi-Monessen Hosptial shortly after he had been struck by a truck driven by Monroe Gainey,of Scottdale,near his home. On Thursday night he was granted permission by his mother to go out and play "halloween" with a group of boys near his home for a short time before bedtime.  He kissed her and left.  A few minutes later he was struck by the truck and severly injured.  He was rushed to the hospital where he died. Blame for the accident had not been determined today.  The boy is survived by his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. John Smoody,Sr.,three brothers and one sister.  Rev. H.C. Dunn will conduct funeral services to be held in the family home Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock.  Burial will be in the Belle Vernon Cemetery.  The Smoody family moved to Arnold City from Pricedale last week.
