Pfc. John L. Mitchell. High mass of requiem for Private First Class John L. Mitchell, formerly of Saw Mill Run Blvd., will be sung at 9 a.m. tomorrow, in St. Norbert's Church, Overbrook. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Pfc. Mitchell was killed in action in Okinawa, May 5, 1945, while serving as a gunner with the 307th Infantry, 77th Division. He served overseas two years.
Born in Belle Vernon, Pa., Pfc. Mitchel was a graduate of East Huntingdon High School in 1935 and before entering the service was employed by the George E. Kelly Drug Company, Pittsburgh. He was a member of St. Norbert's Church, Overbrook. Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Frances Moore and his stepfather, Ernest N. Moore, of 117 Santron St., Carrick.
Friends are being received at the Koontz Funeral Home, 1719 Brownsville Rd. Military services will be in charge of the Carrick-Brentwood American Legion Post No. 725.
