Obituary

John L. Crea, 79, of Fairhope, Belle Vernon, died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2001, in Country Care Manor, Fayette City. A son of the late Dominic and Loretta Dugan Crea, he was born April 5, 1922, in Bescoe. He was a member of the Marion Presbyterian Church, Belle Vernon, and the Goldstar Post 7023 VFW of Perryopolis. A U.S. Army Corp of Engineers veteran of World War II, he was a life member of the former VFW Post 3557 of Belle Vernon. Mr. Crea had lived in Fairhope for over 40 years and was formerly of Fayette City. He retired from U.S. Steel, Irvin Works, in 1989. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, John and Rebecca Crea of Ruffsdale, two daughters and a son-in-law, Susan and Ray Wozniak and Jonie Crea, all of Belle Vernon, and three grandchildren, John Lawrence Crea, Christa Lynne Crea and Kira Nicole Crea. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Breakwell Crea, Sept. 26, 1998. Friends will be received Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. in the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME INC., a Golden Rule Member Firm, 700 Broad Avenue, Belle Vernon, where funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. William Lawson officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery where a military funeral will be conducted by the Perryopolis VFW Post 7023.
