Dr. John L. Beggs,who practiced medicine in the Belle Vernon area for the past 46 years,died Wednesday,July 4,1984,at the age of 73. Dr. Beggs,a general practitioner,had been a patient in the Jefferson Hills Manor after suffering a stroke. He resided and maintained a practice at 425 Broad Ave.,in North Belle Vernon. Dr. Beggs was born Feb.2,1911,in Wilkinsburg to the late David and Aimie (Lambie) Beggs. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles,Edward and David Beggs. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Belle Vernon, and a graduate of Pittsburgh's School of Medicine. He was a resident of North Belle Vernon for the past 46 years,where he practiced medicine during that time. He was also a member of the staff at Mon Valley Hospital and an active member in the Valley Chordsmen,the Mon Valley Chapter of the SPEBSQSA. Surviving are his wife,Dorothy (Kretchman) Beggs;two sons, Dr. Robert A. Beggs of Akron,Ohio and Dr.William J. Beggs Ph.D.,of Mount Lebanon;one brother,William S. Beggs of Princeton,N.J.;one sister,Mrs. Eleanor Austin of Milwaukee,Wis,and six grandchildren. Visitation will be Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.at the Leonard J. Parzynski Funeral Home,626 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon. Relatives and friends will gather Saturday morning at 11 a.m. in the First Presbyterian Church of Belle Vernon for services. The Rev. David Kable of White Oak will officiate. Interment will be held in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The family suggests that contributions be made to the Mon Valley Hospital in his name. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Leonard J.Parzynski Funeral Home.
