Obituary

John Kundrick Sr., 89, of Belle Vernon (Rostraver Township), died Friday, Jan. 7, 2005, in Mon Valley Hospital, Carroll Township. Born Jan. 7, 1916, in Ronco, he was a son of the late Demetry and Elizabeth Singler Kundrick. He was a resident of Rostraver Township for the past 46 years, a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church in Belle Vernon, and was retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Monessen plant, where he worked as an assistant millwright in the Coke Plant. Mr. Kundrick was a veteran of World War II, where he served with the U.S. Army, and a member of Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Kosuda Kundrick, to whom he was married 55 years, a son and daughter-in-law, John Jr. and Lynne Kundrick of Erie, and two grandchildren, John Pierce and Avery Lynne Kundrick, both of Erie. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Alex and Metro Kundrick, and a sister, Mary Ratica. Mr. Kundrick was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Visitation will be held Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the LEONARD J. PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME, family owned and operated, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon (724-929-6183). A prayer service will be held Monday, Jan. 10, at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Sebastian R.C. Church with the Rev. Lawrence L. Manchas, V.F. Pastor, as celebrant. Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery. On Sunday, members of St. Sebastian parish will pray the rosary for the departed soul of John Kundrick Sr. at 3 p.m., and Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659 will conduct services at 7 p.m., both in the funeral home.
