Obituary

John Kulik,82,of Rostraver Road,Belle Vernon,died Tuesday,April 13,1999,at 7:40 a.m. in his home. Mr. Kulik was born May 9,1916,in California,Pa.,a son of the late Nicolaus and Mary Markovic Kulik. He was a member of St. Augustis Church of Cleveland,Ohio.  He was an honorary member of Post 58 and also a member of the Polish Legion of American Vets,where he was honored as "Man of the Year" in 1991. He belonged to the United Mine Workers,Fairhope Rod and Gun Club and the American Slavonic Citizens Club of Fayette City.  He retired from the Banning Mine in March of 1985 and resided in Belle Vernon since 1993,formerly residing in Cleveland.  In addition to his parents,he was preceded in death by his wife,Eleanor Kovach Kulik,who died Dec.15,1989,and three sisters, Antonia Cutic,Ann Nytray and Julie.  He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law,John A. and Sharon Kulik of Belle Vernon;three daughters and two sons-in-law,Sally and William Callaway of Belle Vernon,Eleanor J. Kulik of Belle Vernon,Mary Dale and James Shaw of Lanham,Md.;11 grandchildren,Jodi Ann Yoney,Richard S. Kulik,William A. Callaway,Robert R. Callaway,John A. Kulik,Nick L. Kulik,Scott G. Shaw,Julie Ann Shaw,Lisa Martin,Scott Stepenski and Stacey Stepenski;and three great-grandchildren,Alyse Yoney,Gabrielle Yoney and Samantha. Friends will be received at the Ferguson Funeral Home Inc. 700 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.  Funeral services will be at the funeral home Friday at 10 a.m.with the Very Rev. George Mitchell,pastor of Holy Trinity Orthodox Church,California,officiating.  Interment will be at the Belle Vernon Cemetery.  The Ferguson Funeral Home Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
