Obituary

John Knobic,50,of Pricedale was found dead in a pasture on Fritch's Farm off Route 201 in Rostraver Twp. about 10:30 a.m on Sunday morning, September 11,1966. Westmoreland County Coroner Stephen Yoney and State Police believed he may have been trampled to death by horses and cows.  He had been dead about 24 hours when a group of boys found his body in a field behind Atlier's Service Station on Route 201. Yoney said the victim died of multple fractures of the head and internal injuries. The coroner said his head and face bore imprints of a horseshoe and other hoof marks.  Yoney theorized that Mr. Knobic fell asleep in the field and was trampled by the animals that graze there.  Yoney said he was last seen heading toward the pasture Fiday night. An employee of the Henderson Sanitation Co.of Rostraver Twp.,Mr. Knopic is survived by a step-brother,Tony,and a step-sister,Mrs. Michael Cavalovitch,both of Pittsburgh. Friends will be received after 7 p.m. Sept. 12 at the James C. Stump Funeral Home,Sweeney Plan,Belle Vernon R.D.  Service there Tuesday, Sept. 16,at 10 a.m.  Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.  James C. Stump,funeral director.
