John K. (Jack) Barger, 87,of First Street,Belle Vernon (Lynnwood),died Monday,March 26,2001,in his home. A son of the late George T. and Florence Kendrick Barger,he was born March 18,1914,in Charleroi. Mr. Barger was Protestant by faith. An avid golfer he had been a member of Nemacolin Country Club for more than 40 years. Formerly of Charleroi,he had lived in Belle Vernon since 1941. He retired in 1978 from Corning Glass Works in Charleroi,where he was a general foreman of transportation and warehousing. Survivors incude his wife of 61 years, Mary Turtzer Barger, four daughters,and sons-in-law, Paula and Bob Beck of Tempe, Ariz.,Mary Lois and Joe Way of Oil City,Nancy and Paul Gaydos of Daisytown and Joan and Tom Nave of Orlando, Fla., a brother-in-law, Alfred Jeffries of Charleroi, 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Phillip Barger and a sister, Jean Jeffries. friends will be received in the Fergusn Fune4ral Hoe Inc.,700 Broadve.,belle Vernon on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be in the funeral home on Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. James B. Bailey,pastor of the Calvary United Presbyterian Church of Donora.,officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. If friends wish, donations can be made to the Albert Gallatin Hospice.
