John J. Martin Jr.; 78; of
State Road; Monessen; died
Saturday; June 10; 2000; in
Mon Valley Hospital; following
a lengthy illness. He was born
Oct. 30; 1921; in Monessen; a
son of the late John J. and
Anna (Jakob) Martin Sr. He
was a lifelong resident of
Monessen; and a member of
Jehovah’s Witnesses Kingdom
Hall. He retired in 1983 from
the Monessen Plant of
Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel
Corp.; having worked in the
open hearth department. He
was a veteran of World War II;
having served with the U.S.
Army. Survivors include his
wife of 52 years; Anastazia
Magdalena (Dziak) Martin; two
sons and one daughter-in-law;
Timothy J. Martin of
Monessen; ad David J. and
Elaine Martin of King; N.C.;
one daughter and son-in-law;
Darlene and Bradley Hodge of
Blacksburg; Va.; one brother;
Michael Martin of Clearwater;
Fla.; four grandchildren;
Deanna; Amanda; David Jr.;
and Jennifer Martin; one greatgrandson; Michael; and one
niece; Nancy Sweigart of
Clearwater; Fla. In addition to
his parents; he was preceded in
death by one sister; Mary
Droster. Visitation was held
Sunday in the DALFONSOBILLICK FUNERAL HOME
INC.; 441 Reed Ave.; Monessen;
with private interment services
Monday in the Belle Vernon
Cemetery. A public memorial
service will be conducted
Monday at 7:30 p.m. in
Jehovah’s Witnesses Kingdom
Hall; 1596 Grand Blvd.;
Monessen. The family suggests
memorial contributions be
made to the charity of one’s choice.
