John J.Gartland of 913 Lincoln avenue;Charleroi;died July 29;1949;at 5:45 p.m. of a heart attack while at work in the Allenport mill. He was born January 22;1881;and was a member of St.Jerome’s church and the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his wife;Margaret McHenry Gartland;four sons;Edward at home;James of Columbus;Ohio;and Thomas and John Gartland of Youngstown;Ohio;three daughters;Mrs.Arthur Cochenour of West Newton;Mrs.Edward Burns and Mrs.Lester Gales of Speers;and one brother;Thomas of Youngstown;and eleven grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Melinchak Home for Funerals. Requiem mass will be held in St.Jerome’s church;Tuesday;August 2;1949;at 9 a.m.;in charge of Rev.James F.McKeever. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon cemetery. Chas.L.Melenyzer is the funeral director.
