John (Jack) Brookes,65,of 134 Jean St.,Belle Vernon,died in Charleroi-Monessen Hosptial Wednesday,June 24,1964,at 9:25 a.m. Mr. Brookes had been employed at the Belle Vernon Cemetery for many years.He was a member of the Belle Vernon Moose and was a veteran of World War I,having served in the British Army. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Mary Kada Brookes; four sons, Maurice of Courtland, Ohio, Thomas, Melvin and Robert,all of Belle Vernon and one brother, Thomas in England. Friends are being received at the Harold R.Toner Funeral Home,Belle Vernon,during hours of 2 to 5 and 7 to 10 p.m. Service there Saturday,June 27,at 2 p.m.,in charge of Dr. S. Arthur Talman, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, Belle Vernon. Interment in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Harold R.Toner,funeral director.
