Obituary

John J.Godla of 1319 Graham Ave.,Monessen,died Wednesday,Aug.5,1981,at 1:15 p.m. in St.Clair Memorial Hospital. He was 72. Mr.Godla,who had been in declining health,was born in Hahntown,Westmoreland County,on June 6,1909. A resident of Monessen for the past 64 years,he had learned the plumbing trade while working for his father-in-law,Ely Laganier,who had a business in Monessen. He later took over the business and called it Godla Heating and Plumbing. Mr.Godla,a U.S.Navy veteran of World War II,retired in 1975. He was a Past Chancelor Commander of former Monessen Lodge Knights of Pythians,Past Commander of Thomas McKee Post American Legion,and Past Deputy Commander of the American Legion 31st District. Mr.Godla was also a member of St.Cajetan R.C.Church and the VFW. Survivors include his widow,Marguerite Laganier Godla,one daughter,Mrs.Anthony (Roberta) Haradin of Mt.Lebanon,one son,Elie Godla of Philadelphia,two grandchildren,Ray and David Haradin,one sister,Mrs.Mary Dzurko of Perryopolis,and four brothers,Steve of Monessen,Frank of Perryopolis,Louis of McLane,Va.,and Joseph of Vermont. Friends will be received in the Rhome Funeral Home Inc.,1209 Grand Blvd.,Monessen,on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Prayer Service will be held Friday at 8 p.m. in the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Saturday,Aug.8,at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Rhome Funeral Home Inc.is in charge of arrangements.
