John J.Atkinson;64;of 117 Allen Ave.;Belle Vernon (Lynnwood);was dead on arrival at Connellsville State General hospital at 2:15 p.m.;Tuesday;Sept.7;1976. He was born in Belle Vernon on Dec.22;1911;son of the late Daniel and Eleanor Hamilton Atkinson;and had been a lifelong resident of the Belle Vernon area. He belonged to the Lynnwood Lutheran Church and retired in 1974 as a heat treater in the cold draw department of the Allenport Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. Surviving are his widow;Sophie Foster Atkinson;two sons;John D.of West Newton and Louis G.;at home;one daughter;Mrs.Raymond (Sharon) Milchovich;Jefferson Estates;Fayette City R.D.1;five sisters;Mrs.William Beck of Fellsburg;Mrs.Phyllis Roucroft and Mrs.Charles Kraft;both of Belle Vernon;Mrs.Fritz Reshenberg of Akron;Ohio and Mrs.Wilbur Stanger of Henryetta;Okla.;and six grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Shelby D.Ferguson Funeral Home;Belle Vernon;from 7 to 9 p.m.Wednesday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.Thursday. Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m.at the funeral home with the Rev.Hartzel Michael of the Lynnwood Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
