John Hollis Phillips,aged 72 years,died Friday morning,October 20,1933 at 3:45 o'clock at his home,221 Luce avenue,after a lingering illness. The family has resided in Monessen for the past thirty years.Previous to his retirement four years ago,Mr. Phillips was employed as a mill foreman. Surviving are the wife and the following children:Jack,of Gary, Indiana,Frank,Mrs. Clyde Eisley,Cyril G.,Mrs. Herman Snyder,Mrs. Elmer Bamford,James R.,and Robert,all of Monessen. Eleven grandchildren also survive. Funeral services are announced for Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the home,in charge of Rev. G.W.Bovard,pastor of the United Presbyterian Church. Interment will be made in the Belle Vernon Cemetery.
