John H.Newberry;125 Koslasky Drive;Belle Vernon;died Monday;Feb.24;1986;at 7 a.m.in West Penn Hospital;Pittsburgh. He was 77. Mr.Newberry was born in Georgia on Feb.16;1908;a son of the late Noah and Laura Atkins Newberry. He was retired from the former U.S.Steel plant in Donora. He was a resident of Belle Vernon for 29 years;having moved from Monessen. Mr.Newberry was a member of Antioch Baptist Church;Belle Vernon;and the Masonic Lodge No.79 of Monessen. In addition to his parents;he was preceded in death by a son;Hiawatha Frezzell. Survivors include his wife;Willie James Newberry;four daughters;Delcina White of Donora;Mary Ellen Bell of Gary;Ind.;and Asenath A.Love and Janie Marie Scott;both of Detroit;Mich.;a cousin;Lorena White of Donora;an aunt;Esther Scott of Donora;12 grandchildren;10 great-grandchildren;and a host of other relatives. Friends will be recieved at the William R.Taylor Funeral Home;645 McMahon Ave.;Monessen;on Wednesday from 2 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Antioch Baptist Church in Belle Vernon with the Rev.Luther Wormack officiating. Burial wil be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The William R.Taylor Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
