John H. Higgins of Belle Vernon R.D.1,formerly of Monessen,died Thursday, Sept. 25,1986,in Mon Valley Hospital,following a brief illness. He was 73. Mr. Higgins was born April 12,1913,in Charleroi, a son of the late John J. and Caroline Meyer Higgins. A Mon Valley resident most of his life, he served with the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Higgins retired in 1976 from the wire mill of the Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corporation's Monesen Plant. He was a member and Past Post Commander of Monessen VFW Post 1190. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers, Alice E., and Howard and Raymond Higgins. Survivors include one son, Howard R. Higgins of Belle Vernon R.D.1;one daughter,Denise Higgins and one sister, Caroline Higgins of Monessen. Friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Rhome Funeral Home,Inc.,1209 Grand Blvd.,Monessen, where services will be held Saturday,Sept. 24,at noon. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Rhome Funeral Home,Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
