John G. Sedlar,63,of 1525 Marian Ave., Monessen,died in Charleroi-Monessen Hospital on Tuesday,July 22,1958,at 3:15 p.m. He was born in California,Pa.,on Feb. 12,1895,and moved to Monessen from California at the age of sixteen. He had served 40 years at Pittsburgh Steel Co.,and was a melter foreman at the time of his death. He was a member of St. Leonard's Roman Catholic Church in Monessen,the Holy Name Society,and the Sacred Heart Society. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in World War I,and was past commander of American Legion Post 28 at Monessen. His wife, Mary Biernaux Sedlar, survives,with one daughter,Mrs. George (Joan) Rose,and a granddaughter,Mary Alice Rose,of North Charleroi. He is also survived by a brother,William Sedler,of Monessen. Friends will be received at Edwin F. Melenyzer Funeral Home from Wednesday at 7 p.m.,with visiting hours from 1 to 5 and 7 to 10 p.m. Services will be held at the funeral home Fri.July 25,at 9:30 a.m.,with Requiem High Mass at St. Leonard's R.C.Church at 10 a.m. Officiating will be Rev. Martin O'Toole. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Edwin F. Melenyzer is the funeral director.
