Obituary

John G. Sakalik Jr., 70, of Rostraver Township, died Thursday, Sept. 30, 2004, in Mon Valley Hospital, Carroll Township. Born in Pricedale, Sept. 25, 1934, he was the son of the late John and Mary (Ferencze) Sakalik. John was retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. in Monessen and the Municipal Authority of Westmoreland County in Greensburg. He was a former member of the Planning and Zoning Commission in Rostraver Township, and served his country in the Army Military Police. He was a member of the Belle Vernon American Legion and the Hungarian Club in Pricedale. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sheila A. Granato Sakalik, whom he married on Oct. 1, 1955, son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Erin Sakalik, of Fallowfield Township, daughter, Kimberly A. Sakalik, of Stafford, Va., granddaughter, Alexandra Sakalik, and niece, Shirley Schoney, of Charlotte, N.C. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Dolores M. Miller. Friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the JAMES C. STUMP FUNERAL HOME INC., 580 Circle Drive, Sweeney Plan/Rostraver Township, where funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. with Pastor Frank J. DePolo, of Covenant Christian Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery, Rostraver Township.
