John F.Varega;1047 Broad Ave.;Belle Vernon;died Sunday;March 13;1983;at 9:05 p.m.in the Jefferson Center Hospital;Jefferson Borough. He was 59.
Mr. Varega was born in
Monessen on Dec. 23;1923; a
son of the late Samuel and
Frances Smolinski Varega.
He was a resident of Belle
Vernon the past 30 years and
was a member of First Baptist Church; Monessen.
He was a veteran of the
U.S. Army; having served
with paratroopers in both
World War II and the Korean
conflict. He retired in May;
1981; from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp.; where
he worked as a machinist.
In addition to his parents;
he was preceded in death by a
sister; Mary Moreno.
Survivors Include his wife;
Bonny Lancaster Varega; a
son; John Thomas Varega;
Monessen; two daughters;
Mrs. Ronald (Gwyn) Halkias;
Charleroi; and Beverly Gayle
Varega; at home; a brother;
Walter; Monessen; two
sisters; Mrs. Enio (Ann)
Makinen; Monessen; and
Mrs. Robert (Pauline)
Genes; Munhall; and two
grandchildren; Marysa Paula
and Shawn Renee Varega;
Monessen.
Friends will be received at
the Leonard J. Parzynski
Funeral Home; 626 Broad
Ave.; Belle Vernon;Monday
from 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday
from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Services will be held Wednesday in the funeral home with the Rev.Allen Herman and the Rev.Earl Lehman;officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
