Obituary

John F. Gido, 57, of Belle Vernon, went peacefully to be with the Lord, with his family by his side, on Thursday, June 30, 2011. The son of the late Anthony and Henrietta Francia Gido, he was born in North Charleroi on July 16, 1953. A graduate of Monessen High School in 1971, he was a member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church of Monessen, had been employed in the blooming mill at the Monessen Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Company, where he was a craneman, and then worked in the steam plant. For 20 years, John was a nurse in the Progressive Care Unit of Mon Valley Hospital until his illness. Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Kim Rainey Gido, two daughters and sons-in-law, Georgina and Regis Steedle, and Leann and Brad Bujdos, all of Belle Vernon, one son and daughter-in-law, John A. and Amber Dongilli Gido, of North Belle Vernon, his father-in-law, Art Steiner, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Dianne and Dennis Naccarato, and Anita and Ed Holmes, all of Monessen, two brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law, Gregg Rainey and Drew and Donna Delmastro Rainey, all of Belle Vernon, four grandchildren, Krysta and Ashton Steedle and Bradley and Rainey Bujdos, and several nieces and nephews. John is also survived by his three little Maltese girls, Holly, Cassie and Angel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Edith Waiton Steiner, in 1999, and a sister-in-law, Tammy Drinkwater, in 2007. A Panachida service will be in the funeral home Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. Funeral services will begin in the funeral home Wednesday, July 6, at 9 a.m. followed by Divine Liturgy at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church with the Rev. Stephen Wahal as celebrant. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
