John E.(Sodie) Kasuda Sr.;81;of Glen Burnie;Md.;formerly of Arnold City;died Monday;Feb.21;1994;in the North Arundel Hospital;Glen Burnie;following a short illness. He was born May 20;1912;in New Salem;a son of the late Michael and Elizabeth Hanov Kasuda. He was a member of the Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church;Fayette City;a member of the Polish National Alliance 976 of Arnold City. He was a retired coal miner;having worked for Republic Steel Co.in the mining division. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America District 5. He was a retired teacher with the now Belle Vernon Area School District. Survivors include his wife;Helen (Kovesky) Kasuda;one son and daughter-in-law;John E.and Patricia Kasuda Jr.of Glen Burnie;three grandsons;John Michael;Paul Joseph and Mark Steven Kasuda;and two sisters;Ann Marcinko of Arnold City and Elizabeth (Betty) Kundrick of Lynnwood. Friends will be received in the Howard W.McCrory Funeral Home;334 Main St.;Fayette City;on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.and Saturday until 9:30 a.m.;when a prayer service will be held;followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m.in the Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church;Fayette City;with the Rev.Richard E.Mackiewicz as celebrant. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. A parish wake service will be held Friday at 8 p.m.in the funeral home. The Howard W.McCrory Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
